In my search for ecology and conservation conferences to add to my 2015 list (coming soon!), I stumbled across these videos from last year's symposium on Thinking Extinction: Science and Philosophy of Endangered Species and Extinction held at Laurentian University. I haven't watched all of the videos, but the ones I have seen raise interesting philosophical and ethical questions about some of our current approaches to endangered species conservation, including how we value species for conservation, and whether the use of the "triage" metaphor for conservation prioritization really conveys the right idea. As a bonus, the round table discussion also features one of Canada's favourite authors, Margaret Atwood! The videos are each about 45 minutes or longer, so they're probably best viewed during a lazy weekend at home, sitting in your comfiest chair with your favourite beverage at hand!
